De Pere Red Dog Rugby was started in 1995 as one of three high school teams that created the NEW Youth Rugby. Tom "TR" Rolf was a founder of NEW Youth Rugby as well as the De Pere team, which he would coach from 1995 through 2005. He had played rugby at Stevens Point and for the Green Bay Celtics for many years.
De Pere Rugby plays 15s as well as 7s rugby at the high school level. Our 15s season runs April-June, with practices starting in March. Our regular season is played throughout Northeast Wisconsin and is followed by the state wide playoffs, culminating with a State Tournament in Madison. Badger 7s Series consists of round robin style tournaments at various venues across the state. Tournaments run from August-September.
Middle school tackle rugby competitions begin in April and wrap up with the State Tournament held in Madison.
De Pere Rugby is a perennial playoff team and we strive to be a competitive club, but do not have any tryouts or cuts. We make sure every player gets to get in the action. Hope to see you on the pitch soon.
